Why I got in this.

Hey, folks – it’s Sherrod Brown.

My decision to run for the Senate wasn’t made lightly.

I love Ohio. I’m biased, of course, but I think we have the greatest, hardest-working people in the world. I’ve always fought to improve the lives of everyday Ohioans and ensure that working folks get their fair share.

I also love this country – and when you love your country, you fight for the people who make it work.

That’s why it’s so upsetting to see how politicians in Washington have turned their backs on working people. Politicians like Jon Husted, my opponent in this race.

Husted says he’s fighting for Ohioans, but instead, he’s catered to his billionaire donors and corporate interest allies from the moment he stepped foot in the U.S. Senate. He’s ripped away health care from working people to fund the largest tax break for billionaires in American history, and he’s failed to take a stand against the Trump administration when Ohioans are being harmed.

After seeing all of this chaos, corruption, and self-dealing coming out of Washington, I knew I had to get back in the fight. I’m so glad I did.

Since launching this campaign, hundreds of thousands of folks like you have joined our grassroots movement for change, and we’re making real progress.

But I’ll be honest with you about where things stand. Right now, this race is a dead heat, and Republicans are spending $133 million to defeat me because this race will decide Senate control. That kind of spending has an effect.

I’m running a grassroots campaign, so with experts predicting that this will be the most expensive U.S. Senate race in history, I can’t win without you. It’s going to take all of us chipping in, talking to our neighbors, and fighting for change. And today, that’s what I’m asking you to do.

So please, if you can, will you share this message with a friend or chip in yourself to help me flip this seat, retake the Senate, and bring our fight for working people to Washington?
